Looking forward, looking back

Dear ,

as we stand at the beginning of a new year, it is a good time to reflect on the journey of WWP EN.

2024 marks the 10th anniversary of our dedicated network, a decade of collaborative efforts in addressing and combating domestic violence at its roots. In celebration of this significant milestone, we are delighted to announce a special event that deserves a place in your calendars. Save the date for our upcoming annual conference scheduled for 21-23 October in Berlin. Join us as we reflect on a decade of progress and lay the groundwork for an even more impactful future.

In line with our commitment to fostering safe, effective and sustainable perpetrator work, we proudly offer grants to our members again in 2024. We encourage all eligible members to apply, as only together, we make a lasting impact in the field.

Furthermore, we are thrilled to introduce the European Standards for Perpetrator Programmes, a groundbreaking effort that sets a new benchmark in our collective mission to end domestic violence. These standards not only reflect our dedication to best practices but also pave the way for a safer and more secure future for survivors.

As we reflect on the past and look towards the future, we express our gratitude to each supporter who has shaped WWP EN's journey. Together, we are making a difference, one step at a time.

Stay tuned for more updates, and let's make 2024 a year of continued progress and collaboration.

Looking forward to the coming decades of changing the world,
Alessandra

Addressing Men´s Violence Against Women within Migrant Communities - The MOVE Project

For the past two years, the MOVE project team has been working to end men´s violence against women, specifically in the context of migration and displacement. Drawing upon their expertise and insights gathered throughout the project, the MOVE team is proud to release the MOVE guidance for Multiagency Collaboration.

Furthermore, the MOVE team has also developed a capacity-building package for perpetrator programmes, highlighting the need for culturally sensitive approaches while working with men from migrant populations. The materials and recordings from European capacity-building workshops are available here.

Campaign to promote consent and healthy sexuality among youth

The CONSENT project team is excited to launch the CONSENT campaign on Valentine's Day. The youth campaign will engage schools and youth associations to enable youngsters to become critical agents, understanding what consent and healthy sexuality should look like.

Meanwhile, the adult campaign will help parents and educators to support youth in their understanding of CONSENT. An online toolbox has also been developed as a resource for adults and youngsters who want to learn more about consent and related themes. Moreover, the CONSENT campaign aims to call institutions, IT companies and policymakers to action on the risks of premature sexualisation and online abuse among minors, with a focus on sexual abuse.

Empowering men to take active roles in parenting and caregiving

Since February 2022, Fathers Rock has tirelessly worked to create a collaborative model that empowers men to take active roles in co-responsible parenting and caregiving while holding them accountable for their parental responsibilities. In response to this critical need, the Fathers Rock team has embarked on a mission to equip frontline services with the tools to identify and refer domestic violence cases to relevant services. They have also implemented programs to engage fathers actively in the parenting process.

Stay tuned for the training manuals, which the project team will publish in February in different languages!

Creating effective multiagency responses to domestic violence

Since early 2022, the ASAP 2.0 team has worked on creating effective multiagency responses to domestic violence. The project team delivered upgraded tools for the collaboration between perpetrator programmes, victim support services and other services and a capacity-building programme, replicable across the EU.

On 4 and 5 March, we will hold an online training on delivering comprehensive programmes. Sign up for the event mailing list to stay informed.

Finally, at the online event on 19 April 2024, the project partners will share the ASAP 2.0 protocol and toolkit, essential for establishing a coordinated response to violence against women, and we will hear from other project coordinators on their approaches to comprehensive approaches to end DV. Registrations for the event will be open soon.
